What is it?
FACT: We have all the muscle-fibres we will ever have at birth. If damaged, they cannot be replaced.
FACT: Body builders have the same amount of muscle-fibres as non Body builders…they are just thicker.
FACT: the hand contains 20 different muscles
FACT: Muscles account for 40% of the body weight.
Where there is chronic muscle tension or injury, our bodies make adhesions to protect from further damage.
Over time those adhesions can stiffen and prevent healing. Blood flow and nerves become constricted and pain follows. Over a long time, these adhesions can become solid scars and reduce movement in the muscle area.
Deep Tissue Massage therapy works by pressure movements on and across the deeper muscles and fascia (connective tissue) and is used to treat:
- Lower back pain
- Limited mobility
- Recovery from Injury (whiplash; Falls; Sports injuries)
- Repetitive strain (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome)
- Sciatica
- Fibromyalgia
- Muscle tension – hamstrings; glutes; legs; IT band; quads
